Wounds

Hello dear members :)

As promised, we have for you, our very First first aid revision update!

Even though our weekly meetings have come to an end, we still have to revise on first aid! :)

Today's first aid snippet is entirely on the

7 types of wounds : -

i) Abrasion
- A superficial wound
- Topmost layers of skin are scraped
- May contain embedded foreign particles that may result in infection

ii) Bruises/Contusions
- Result of blunt trauma/injury to tissues, causing damage to blood vessels
-May be in the form of surface bruises, or deeper within tissues or organs

iii) Lacerations
- Caused by crushing/ripping forces
- Often contaminated with germs, risk of infection is high

iv) Incised
- Caused by a clean cut from sharp-edged object (ie. knife, razor)
- Bleeding may be profuse

v) Stab
- Caused by long or bladed instruments (ie. knife) penetrating the body
- Must always be treated seriously
- May bring danger to organs
- May cause life-threatening internal bleeding

vi) Puncture
- Has a small entry, but a deep track of internal damage
- High infection risks

vii) Gunshot
- Caused by bullet or other missile driving into the body
- Has small entry but big exit
