Attn: Christmas Party 2008

Dear members,

The division is having its 2nd Christmas Party, and YOU are invited!

6 Reasons Why You Can't Miss It
:

  1. It's a pool party; and who skips pool parties? (It doesn't matter if you can't swim, there'll be plenty of others - lots of grass and dry ground, not to worry.)

  2. This is a rare chance to have fun with your St. John friends, juniors and seniors outside regular meetings.

  3. The annual Christmas Party is one of the MOST fun activities organised by SJAM DU in a year. (Duty etc. can be fun, but c'mon, let's be honest here - compared to a Christmas party?)

  4. Food will be top class, and the venue is gorgeous. (Definitely worth more than RM20.)

  5. Meet and mingle with officers and members from other divisions in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. (You might even see Mdm. Sheryn in her trademark pink bikini!)

  6. All your friends will be talking about it when school reopens, and you don't wanna feel left out!

Note that:
  • There is a fee of RM20 (same as last year). If you think that it's a lot, go for the party and we bet you will change your mind.
  • RSVP by 25 November latest by leaving a comment on this post stating your full name, class (2008) and email address. Alternatively, contact Serenity.
  • It's a pool party, but whether or not you come in swimwear is up to you.
  • Only 70 spaces available, so sign up pronto!
For any questions, contact Grace or Pei Yeen (either email or call us).

Tell all your friends - don't one anyone to miss the fun, do we? ;)

If you don't have a Blogger account:
  1. Ask a friend who does have one to sign up for you.
  2. Call/email Serenity or any B.O.D. member, and tell them your details.
Don't let something as simple as this stop you!

Those involved in the Exhibition had to set up a St John booth, promote the upcoming Mass CPR event and sell coupons.

Members involved in First Aid had a rather easy time as there were only two casualties.

SEAPort members gave a short-case demonstration that wow-ed the public.

Madam Eng (Hon Area Secretary), Sir Visvanathan (Area Commander) with YB Elizabeth Wong

Later, we also gave a brief CPR demonstration. Madam Sheryn gave the talk while our very own Xin Xiang was roped in to demonstrate! (go DU!)

Pros:
  • Spent precious time doing good, fulfilling work
  • Everyone on duty was given 2 x RM 10 coupon booklets to spend (on food and more).
  • Sold RM 1640 worth of coupons (earning SJAM-KSTU 10% of sales)
  • Earned ±9 duty more hours
  • Got a chance to 'play' with large, sleeping reptiles

National Mass CPR and Blood Donation Drive

What if one day, a member of your family falls unconscious?
Would you know what to do?
Would you be able to help?
Never bothered to learn up some basic resuscitation procedures?
Don't fret.

In conjunction with our 100 years of being in Malaysia, St John Ambulance Malaysia is organizing mass CPR sessions and blood donation drives at national level.

We, St John Ambulance Malaysia will be holding CPR classes (90 minute sessions) every half hour - absolutely free of charge! These sessions will be held all around Malaysia simultaneously.

Kawasan Selangor Tengah Utara (KSTU) will be doing our part, as well! Details are as follows.
Day: Sunday
Date: 30 November 2008
Time: 10.30am-7.30pm
Venue: Ground Floor, Rainforest, 1 Utama

Interested?
Well, here's what you have to do. It's really very simple.
1. Make yourself free on 30 November.
2. Pre-register yourself via email (sjamkstu_sheryn@yahoo.com) or
call Miss Sheryn (012-2333522) or Miss Mei (012-6302384) to book your time slot.
3. Head on down to 1 Utama in time for your session!

For those of you who are already qualified first aid members, do spread the word! Tell your friends and family, so they too will be prepared to face minor medical emergencies.

But the good news hardly stops there.
Come and do your part for those in need at our Blood Donation Drive.

Day: Saturday and Sunday
Date: 29 and 30 November 2008
Time: 10.30am-5.00pm
Venue: Ground Floor, Rainforest, 1 Utama

A drop of blood saves a life.

But wait, there's more.
Blood donation not your kind of thing?
Sign up to be an organ donor instead.
National organ donor registration forms will be available for those who are interested!

Do your part and spread the word.

All in all, it was a relatively good duty because all/some/one of us:
