Sejarah: The Order of St. John

Note: the information below is a knowledge that all st john members should know, so do read up, yeah? :) And especially to the state camp participants, it is of utmost importance that you read up on all the information below. It would be wise of you to print it out and memorize it as it will be tested for the Knowledge of The Order badge. & that badge determines whether you are eligible to obtain the other available badges or not. Bottom line, just memorize it!


AD 600 : Sejarah St John Bermula

800 : Maharaja Charlemangne telah membina semula HOSPICE dengan kebenaran HARUN EL- RASHID

1010 : Khalifah El-Halim telah memusnahkan semua bangunan . Beliau ialah raja yang zalim.

1023: Saudagar dari Amalfi telah membeli semula tapak Hospice dan membangunkan semula the Order dengan mengambil lambang Republik Amalfi iaitu bintang lapan penjuru.

1113 : Pope Paschal II mengambil Order di bawah naungannya.

1291 : The Order dihalau dari Jerusalem. Knights melarikan diri ke Cyprus.

1310 : Knights of St John telah menawan Kepulauan Rhodes dan menjadikannya kubu mereka sambil meneruskan tugas murni mereka.

1522 : Kepulauan Rhodes ditawan.

1530 : Kepulauan Malta diberi kepada Knights of St John oleh Maharaja Charles V.

1798 : Kepulauan Malta ditawan oleh Napolean.

1834 : Order telah dibangunkan semula di England. Rev. Sir Robert Peat dilantik sebagai Grand Prior yang pertama

1877 : S.J.A. Association ditubuhkan

1882 : St John Ophthalmic Hospital ditubuhkan kerana penyakit mata telah berleluasa.

1887 : S.J.A. Briged ditubuhkan.

1908 : St John Ambulans ditubuhkan di Malaya.

1938 : Bahagian yang pertama ditubuhkan di Johor.

1955 : The Order mendapat piawaian diraja di England dengan nama penuh ‘The Grand Priory In The British Realm Of The Most Venerable Order Of The Hospital Of St.John of Jerusalem’.

1972 : S.J.A.A dan S.J.A.B telah diperbadankan dan Tan Sri Abdul Kadir bin Shamsudin dilantik sebagai Pemerintah Agung.( Akta 74 diluluskan pada 31 Ogos 1972)

1.8.73 : Akta SJAM diluluskan.

There will be a training/audition this weekend. The details are as follows:

Time : 8 am till 10 am
Venue : DK court
Attire : Sport shoes, T-shirt, Long pants (shorts and bermudas are not allowed)


Please be punctual.

Details:

Date: 14th of November & 15th of November
Time: 7.30a.m. – 12.30p.m
Place: School Hall

Note: Your attendance is a must for both(2) days. First day is the course and the second day is the examination.

What will you gain from this course?

Home nursing is about:

• providing quality care towards people who are ill
• how to make a bed properly (simple tasks like this is not as easy as it seems!)
• hand washing (the right way!)
• monitoring on an ill person’s condition
• assistance in daily activities for the elderly, child
  
• and so much more!!!

You will receive a certificate and a one of a kind badge!

Obtaining a badge from this course only applies to the ambulance members because the skills you will learn from this course are the ones you should already know as a nursing member.
Do not worry; we will inform you when there is an ambulance course in future. :)

Your attendance is compulsory. The experience and knowledge you will gain is advantageous and vital towards the competition.

First Aid Bites & A Quick Update

What to do when someone is in shock/fainting?

*Note: DO NOT stop the person from falling, help him/her fall slowly. If there is a crowd around, get them to spread out to give the casualty some air.

• The person must lie on their back - preferably with their feet raised - to ensure enough blood gets to the brain.
  
  
• Make sure the person is warm, comfortable and covered by a blanket if possible. Loosen restrictive clothing. (such as: ties, shoes, watch etc.)
  
  
• Do not give them anything to drink because they could run a risk of choking.
  
  
• If the person vomits or bleeds from the mouth, he or she must be placed on their side to prevent choking. (aka: recovery position)
  
  
• The person should recover from it after a few minutes. If not, seek help immediately.

We are aware that there has been a halt in st. john activities. don't worry! after the exams, we will be jammed packed with special things for all of you! One day exursions, group movie outings, possibly? ;]

Public Duty: Marathon

Dear members, we have a public duty coming up. :)

Attention to the Form 3s! You should spend your new found freedom serving mankind!

{the whole 'i'm-free-yay' feeling is getting kind of boring, no?}

Since the duty is close to the end of our final exams, form 1s and form 2s may attend as well.
